Multiple new models are being prepared by Hyundai for the highly competitive Indian market. A new entry-level SUV will also be developed by Hyundai, internally called the Hyundai Ai3, to rival the Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and others.
Hyundai has yet to announce the launch of its Ai3 mini SUV. According to reports, the new model will be launched before Diwali in 2023. The new mini SUV is expected to debut at the 2023 Auto Expo.
Aura compact sedan and Grand i10 Nios SUV share the same platform. The Casper compact utility vehicle is also built on the same platform. Hyundai India’s Casper is bigger and will sit below the Venue in the lineup.
Hyundai Ai3 is expected to borrow design cues from Caper micro SUV and Venue compact SUV. In comparison, the Casper measures 3.6 meters in length. Ai3 will fill the gap between Grand i10 Nios and Venue. A new mini SUV could replace some of the top-end and entry-level Nios and Venue variants.
Hyundai Ai3 SUV’s interior may be shared with Grand i10 Nios. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support is expected, as are reverse cameras, power windows, automatic climate control, and electrically adjustable ORVMs. 1.2-litre petrol engine is likely to be shared with Grand i10 Nios. The engine produces 82bhp and 114Nm. A 5-speed manual and an automatic transmission are likely. CNG is also an option for the subcompact SUV. Hyundai has planned to produce 50,000 units of its new Ai3 CUV each year. The company has invested around Rs 1,470 crore to expand its plant capacity to 8.5 lakh units.
