75,000 Maruti Grand Vitara bookings

With 8,000 units sold in its first month of launch, the Maruti Grand Vitara has been receiving overwhelming response from buyers. After the Creta and Seltos, it became the third most popular mid-size SUV.

Since July, over 75,000 bookings have been accepted by the carmaker. Hybrid variants command 35 percent of total orders. Grand Vitara currently has a waiting period of up to 28 weeks. There is a waiting period of 8 to 10 weeks for Alpha, Alpha AWD and Alpha AT, and 18-20 weeks for Delta and Zeta manual variants. A waiting period of 22 to 24 weeks applies to Delta automatic and Alpha+ hybrid models and Sigma and Zeta+ strong hybrid variants have maximum waiting periods of 22-28 weeks.

There are two engine options available – a 1.5L K15C petrol with mild hybrid technology and a 1.5L TNGA petrol with strong hybrid technology. It has four drive modes – EV, Eco, Power, and Normal. Its mild hybrid powertrain claims 101bhp and 136Nm. Transmissions are automatic or manual. The hybrid powertrain produces 92bhp at 5,500rpm and 122Nm of torque at 4,400rpm. 79bhp and 141Nm are generated by an AC synchronous motor.  115bhp and 122Nm are the maximum usable power and torque. Fuel economy of 28kmpl is promised with the powerful hybrid powertrain.
